A yummy treat

I love when I find a deal, a new recipe, something I think is cute, etc because I like to share it with my family and friends.  I realized my blog would be a good way to pass on some of those fun finds.

So here is a recipe that is great for families or anyone else that wants something completely unhealthy but soooo good.  I am sure a lot of you have had or heard of it but if not it is called Monkey Bread.  DELICIOUS!!!  I first had it at our good friends The G's last year and then totally forgot about it until last week when I decided I wanted to make it for my family.  It would be great for a Christmas morning treat, when you have friends spend the night or when you just want to spoil your own family.

The link below includes pictures and a place you can print off the recipe or I have listed it below.

Pastor Ryan’s Monkey Bread

Prep Time:20 Minutes Cook Time:40 Minutes

■3 cans Buttermilk Biscuits (the Non-flaky Ones) I did use reduced fat just fyi
■1 cup Sugar
■2 teaspoons (to 3 Teaspoons) Cinnamon
■2 sticks Butter
■1/2 cup Brown Sugar

Preparation Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Open up all three cans of biscuits and cut each biscuit into quarters.
Next, combine the white sugar with 2-3 teaspoons of cinnamon. (3 teaspoons of cinnamon gives it a fairly strong cinnamon flavor. If you’re not so hot on cinnamon, cut it back to 2 teaspoons.) Dump these into a 1 gallon zip bag and shake to mix evenly.
Drop all of the biscuit quarters into the cinnamon-sugar mix. Once all the biscuit quarters are in the bag seal it and give it a vigorous shake. This will get all those pieces unstuck from one another and nicely coated with cinnamon-sugar. Spread these nuggets out evenly in the bundt pan.
At this point, you’re going to want to melt the two sticks of butter together with ½ cup of brown sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat. This can be light or dark brown sugar. Cook butter/sugar mixture, stirring for a few minutes until the two become one. Once the brown sugar butter has become one color, you can pour it over the biscuits.

Bake for about 30-40 minutes until the crust is a deep dark brown on top. When its finished cooking, remove it from the oven. If you have the willpower, allow it to cook for about 15-30 minutes before turning it over onto a plate.

ENJOY!

Cotton Bowl 2013

To say this year's Aggie football season was awesome is an understatement!  I can't remember Lonnie ever having so much joy and pride in his team as he did this year.  The exclamation point to end the season was the 2013 Cotton Bowl.  We made the trip with The McKinneys and Perronis and as always had a great time.

Santa's Wonderland

Same post, different year.  We made our annual trip to College Station to visit Santa's Wonderland.  This year was awesome because Case took everything in and really enjoyed the lights, the music and the atmosphere.

If you have never been to SW you really need to make the trip.  I never get tired of going- especially since they have awesome turkey legs and funnel cakes :) yum

I got choked up seeing the Jesus- this was shortly after the tragedy in CT and it just reminded me how blessed I am to have my family, health, happiness, etc
